I slipped out of bed and put on a red shirt and a pair of old blue jeans and ran a brush though my hair. I grabbed my sneakers and ran down the hallway of our apartment; Rob and my mom were sitting at the breakfast table eating and talking, mom had a worried look on her and spoke so quiet that it looked like she was mouthing the words. When I entered the room, they both looked up.
“Good mourning
“Mourning mom, is something wrong?” I asked and mom frowned.
“No, nothing is wrong. Rob and I were just talking.” I looked at Rob; he was looking at the ground at his feet. He looked up and smiled at me.
“It’s nothing you need to worry about, it’s just bills.” She stood up and got me a plate of pancakes.
I looked at the plate than looked at mom; she could tell that it was bugging me.
“Hurry up and eat, the school bus will be here soon.” She said.
Mom’s name is Sherri Youngblood, Her maiden name was Williams and some kids still call me by Williams instead Youngblood to annoy me and I think they deserve a good hit in the kisser, and I’d be the first one to throw a punch. But mom says fighting isn’t the answer.
I scooped up a pancake with my fork and eat it as slow as I could; mom’s pancakes are the best, she’s an amazing cook. After I finished breakfast, I said bye to my mom and Rob and ran outside to my bus stop.
“Hey Williams” a deep voice said behind me and I wished that I wasn’t me for the moment. I turned to see Justin Goons, the biggest, stupidest, meanest 8th grader in Tulsa junior high school, standing behind me, seeing his ugly yellow buck tooth grin, he would be a dentist’s worst nightmare.
“My last name is Youngblood.” I said a bit annoyed.
Justin rubbed his chin, “you look more like a Williams to
“And if I don’t?” Justin pushed me and I fell onto the sidewalk. Justin laughed “What a loser!” he turned to his friends who were laughing too.
I jumped up and attacked Justin from behind; I got on his back and he desperately tired to get me off.
“Get off, pipsqueak!”
Justin’s friend came over finally and grabbed me; I was swinging my legs back and forth.
“Time to teach Williams a lesson.” Justin said cracking his knuckles which wasn’t a pleasant sound.
But before they could do anything, the school bus drove up.
**************
I tired really hard to pay attention the rest of the day but it’s hard when you almost get in a fight after every class period. Then after third period I got in a big fight with Justin’s friend, Jack. I was walking to class when Jack stomped over to me with the dirtiest look I had ever gotten; he grabbed my shoulder and pushed me into my locker, my head banged against the locker. I jumped up and ran towards Jack, who was laughing like a retard. I knocked the wind out of him; Jack grabbed my hair, he turned me on my stomach and pulled my head up.
“Aaaa!” I screamed and Jack laughed. I was causing a scene because soon a coward of seventh and eighth graders and a couple of sixth graders were around Jack laughing along with him.
I lied there as still I could be, I kept thinking of a lightning bolt coming out the sky and hitting the ground right next to Jack. I kept thinking and the more I thought about, the more strong the lightning bolt became.
Suddenly, the school ceiling cracked open and black storm clouds were forming quickly, we all heard a rumble of thunder and a white lightning bolt shot out of the sky and hit right next to Jack, the ground cracked open. Jack got off me and ran away screaming, another lightning bolt shot out the sky and hit the ground again; the coward panicked and ran away screaming just like Jack.
I was left there, sitting on the ground rubbing my cheek. I looked back at the sky and saw that the storm clouds were going away and I could see the sun shining though.
Something really weird had just happened and somehow I did it.
