Tyler Youngblood (counited)
I ran into a random teacher’s room and dialed my mom’s cell phone number.
“Pick up, pick up.” I muttered.
“Hello?” Mom sounded nervous when she answered.
“Mom, it’s me, Tyler.” I said and I hear her sign in relief.
“Tyler? What’s wrong?” She asked.
“Nothing is wrong, everything is fine; I was just wondering if you could pick me up from school?” I lied. I felt terrible about lying to mom, but I had to.
“Of course, I’m at work but Rob is home so I’ll call him and he will come and get you.”
“Okay, thanks, bye.”
“Bye Tyler, love you.”
“Love you too.” I said then I hung up the phone quickly, hearing footsteps coming close. I hid behind a filing cabinet.
I said then I hung up the phone quickly, hearing footsteps coming close. I hid behind a filing cabinet.
“Did you hear about Jack Kidman? He came running into the principal’s office going off about one of my student, Tyler Youngblood tired to kill him with a lightning bolt.” Mr. Rollins, my science teacher came walking into the classroom.
“Isn’t that just a silly thought?” Another voice said I had never heard it in my life; it was nerdy sounding like he has a stuffed nose.
“Not really, I have been excepting Tyler to do something like this all year.”
What? I thought. He’s been waiting for me to mess up? Thanks for the support Mr. Rollins.
“Now, we know he isn’t human.” The other person said.
“For sure, I thought he’d be like a son of a minor god but he’s has the power of lightning, that must mean that Tyler is the son of one of the big three, lord Poseidon, lord Hades, or even lord Zeus.”
“It couldn’t be Zeus’s kid, Zeus did have a son thirteen years ago but Hera killed him while he was an infant.” Mr. Rollins said.
“You never know, master. Remember Hercules?” the other person added.
Did he just call Mr. Rollins, master? I thought. I had always thought Mr. Rollins was weird, I had been betting this kid named Derek that Mr. Rollins could make his own wacky creatures if he wasn’t a science teacher but was it true that he actually made his own creature?
“I smell something, master?” the other person said sniffing the air, he hissed. “That boy is here.”
Mr. Rollins looked around, “in this room?”
“Yes master, He has a strong scent.”
“Where is he?”
The person didn’t look like a person; he was black and red, with long wiry black wings spouted out of his back, but he still had that nerdy voice.
“Behind the cabinet.” Mr. Rollins’s creature pointed right at the filing cabinet that it felt like he was pointing straight though the cabinet seeing me.
I didn’t hear anything, then the cabinet suddenly fell and Mr. Rollins stood there, his eyes were piecing red and he had long sharp claws.
“Good job, my creature. You found Tyler.” He said.
“Thank you, master. It was nothing my smell has gotten better.”
“Now Tyler Youngblood, I shall finish you off.” Mr. Rollins said turning to back to the ground.
I was gone; I was at the door trying to get out.
“Get him!” Mr. Rollins yelled at the creature.
“Yes master, we will have him for dinner tonight.” The creature said flying towards me.
The door flung open and the creature slammed into the wall outside.
I did the first thing that came to my mind.
Run.
“You fool! He’s getting away!” Mr. Rollins yelled at the creature as I ran down the hallway so fast that I thought that my heart might burst.
The school was empty, it’s empty when it’s after school except for some kids talking to teachers, but it was as empty as a ghost town.
I turned a corner to see a bunch of adults and kids with a news crew standing over by where I had made the lightning bolt hit. Jack was there; he was talking to a news reporter.
“There he is! Tyler Youngblood! The kid who summoned the lightning bolt!” A blonde lady who must have been Jack’s mom came over and put her hand on Jack’s shoulder.
“Jack, it wasn’t Tyler’s fault, you’re just thought.”
“No, I’m serious! He tired to kill me!”
The news reporter with a microphone and a cameraman came over to me.
“Tyler Youngblood, did you really try to kill Jack? Did you know about this lightning bolt hitting here before you got in a fight with Jack?” The lady asked.
“No, leave me alone,” I answered.
“Tyler, there you are!” Rob pushed out of the crowd and took my arm.
“Are you Tyler’s father?” the lady asked.
“Yes, his stepfather. Get that camera out of my face.” Rob said pushing though the crowd.
“Do you think that his incident will affect Tyler in school? Will he be kicked out?”
Rob didn’t answer; he just pushed though the crowd and took me outside. His 1985 ford ranger he had since high school was waiting.
“Where’s your coat?” Rob asked after we got in the car and I rubbed my arms.
“In my locker,” I answered, “I was going to get after I called mom but…”
Rob looked at me, “but what?”
Suddenly, the school doors opened and Mr. Rollin’s creature came flying out.
Rob’s eyes went huge and he pushed the gas pedal so hard I thought it would break.
“Oh, my gosh. I thought Jamie and I destroyed him years ago.” Rob said,
As the car zoomed out of the parking lot.
“What do you mean you destroyed him?”
“Ty, I think it’s time for you know. Your father is Zeus, the lord of sky and the head of the Greek gods.”
“What? The Greek gods, they were made to explain like lightning.” I said.
“Well, you’re wrong. They have been ruling the universe since Zeus overthrew his father, the titan lord.” Rob explained. “The children of the gods are called half-bloods or our official name, demigods.”
“What do you mean OUR?”
“Tyler, I’m a demigod too. Your step grandfather, George I told you about that died when I was in junior high I made him up. My mother never got married; she had me with the lord of the sea, Poseidon. Like your mother with Zeus.” Rob looked behind him and took a gun from a cabinet in his car. That’s why he wouldn’t let me look in that cabinet when I was a little kid, because of the gun.
“Tyler, take the wheel.” Rob said as he unrolled the window and put his arm out with the gun.
I grabbed the stirring wheel, as Rob shot the gun at the creature coming towards us.
“Keep it steady, Tyler!”
“I’m trying!”
I heard gunshots and I felt as if my heart would stop, as Rob shot again. The gunshots missed the creature twice and Rob clenched his teeth.
“Gosh, darn it!” he yelled. “He’s gotten better!”
I looked at Rob who yelled at me to keep my eyes on the road.
“You’re going to learn how to drive in a couple of years; it’s never too early to get started on how to learn,”
I turned back to the road just as a giant truck scraped against the car.
“Tyler! Get down!” Rob yelled.
Without warning, our car flipped over and went soaring though the air. Rob got on top of me as if shielding me.
I heard screams as we flew, than the car banged hard onto the cement but it kept skidding down the road.
Finally, the car hit something and it stopped, Rob was breathing heavily as he emerged from our hiding spot.
“Dad, what...” I felt like crying, but I just swallowed.
“Its okay, Tyler. We’re safe. I think I got him.” Rob was shaking like a leaf; I could tell he was as scared as me. It’s not everyday that a weird creature tries to kill you.
“Hand him over Robert. You thought we’d never find him but we would.” Mr. Rollins said rolling down a window.
“Leave him alone, he’s just a kid.” Rob said, taking his gun off the floor and pointing it at Mr. Rollins. I looked more closely at the gun and say it wasn’t a regular heater gun; it looked like one but it had a trident painted on it.
“Poseidon” I whispered, than it all started to make sense.
When we’d go to the beach or to any ocean, Rob felt so clam, he felt so happy in the water. He reminded me of a dolphin as he’d splashed around, he loved the ocean so much because it reminded him of his father and now I know why it did.
“Robert, son of Poseidon; you are putting yourself and your wife in danger if you keep him with you.”
“I don’t care; I would put my life on the line if it meant keeping Tyler safe.” Then Mr. Rollins grinned evilly and said in a dark cold voice that make me shiver, “oh, really?”
Mr. Rollins and the creature grabbed Rob and pulled him out of the car.
“Dad!” I yelled, Rob kept a tight grip on his gun and kicked his long legs trying to escape from their grip.
“Let him go!” I said, I grabbed a broken bottle on the dirty ground and threw at Mr. Rollins, it hit him and he fell.
“Now you’ve done it, twerp.” The creature said dropping Rob and came towards me with his sharp fangs bearing at me. “Now it’s time to meet the underworld.”
3 A centaur comes at my door
“I’m not scared of you.” I said to the creature, “now let him go.”
Rob looked at me with a panicked look. “Tyler, no!”
“And if I don’t?” the creature asked.
“I’ll kill you.” Even though my voice was steady, but I felt like as if I was about it faint.
“Oh, really? How are you going to save your step daddy here?” he asked.
“Um, I’ll…” I started to say, trying to think a really quick plan, while the creature crackled like a witch,
“I knew it, you can’t do it. You’re a stupid excuse for a son of Zeus.”
I felt a tug in my gut and like at school, I thought of intently of a lightning.
The sky suddenly turned black, the wind began to blow hard. Things were flying off the ground and blowing away.
“That’s it, Tyler! Channel your powers!” I heard Rob yell over the wind.
A sliver lightning bolt streaked out of the sky and before the creature could respond, he had turned into a pile of ashes, blowing away.
Mr. Rollins looked at the ashes and then looked at me.
“Impressive, Tyler.” He let go of Rob, “we will meet again, Tyler Youngblood.” And then Mr. Rollins grew wings just like his creature and flew into the sky and disappeared in a flash of light.
Rob got up from the ground and ran over to me.
“You okay, Tyler?” He asked.
“I’m fine, let’s just go home.” I answered tiredly, my back hurt and I felt like I could take a three-month nap.
Rob looked around in his pockets searching for his cell phone, “crap, did it fall out of my pocket?” he asked himself.
I sighed and wiped out the blood off my lip.
“We have to walk?”
“Yeah, sorry Ty.”
“It’s okay; we’ll fit in right with the hobos.” I teased and Rob laughed.
“Come on sport. We better get going; your mom must be worried sick.” Rob had noticed the sun was starting to set.
“Maybe she adopted a dog and forgot all about us.”
“Very funny, Tyler.”
Even though I’d probably get expelled from Tulsa junior, I still had to do my homework; mom’s orders, no exceptions.
After I finished my homework, I got on the Internet and researched demigods, to find out exactly what I was.
Demigods, what are they? By Jim C. Hunter
The word demi comes from the Latin, meaning half.
Demigods are commonly known from Greek mythology; the Greek gods would have affairs with mortals and have children who raised on earth with their mortal parent. Demigods were half human and half god.
The most powerful demigods were the children of the three major gods, Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus.
The most famous demigod of Greek mythology was a child of Zeus, they’re names was Hercules.
The demigods were sent off on quests that were given by the oracle, a young maiden who foretold the future…
“Tyler!” I heard my mother leaving the dishes she was washing and came into the living room.
I hurried and exited out of the article and opened up a computer game and acted like I had been playing it all evening.
“Tyler!” Mom walked into the room, drying her hands on a dishtowel.
“What?” I muttered; trying to sound bored as it could get.
“Bedtime in ten minutes.” She said.
“Okay mom.”
Than she walked over to me and kissed me gently on the side of my head, “I’m so glad you and Rob are safe, put your glasses on you know you have trouble reading without them.”
She started walking away; I had to say something, anything.
“Is that one of the signs?” I asked.
“Is what?” mom answered a bit nervous.
“Rob has a hard time reading without his glasses like me, and we’re demigods. Is that one of the signs?”
Mom sighed and sat down.
“Yes sweetie.”
“Did you know that Rob was a demigod too, when you got married to him?”
“Right before Rob purposed to me, he told me everything. He knew you were a demigod before I even told him. Every god, mythological creature, and every demigod that was old enough to remember knows you, your name, your birthday and your father.”
“So my dad is really Zeus, isn’t he?”
“Yes, when you were first born we kept you a secret and only Zeus knew about, and then Chiron found out about it.”
“Who’s Chiron?” I asked, knowing he was somewhere in Greek mythology.
“He is the immortal trainer of heroes, he offered to take off my hands and train you, but I didn’t want that.” She explained.
“He is the immortal trainer of heroes, he offered to take off my hands and train you, but I didn’t want that.” She explained. “If I had let him, I would never see you again.”
“I’m glad you told him no.” I said, looking out the window. It was raining, nothing was outside except for a shadow, it looked like a human but I saw an outline of a horse’s back.
“Tyler, with you knowing your true identity, Chiron will be here soon to take you away.”
“WHAT? But you told him no.”
“To take you as an infant, but he said he would come back when you learn your identity, and start your training. You must choose if you like to become a hero or try to live a mortal life, no matter what you choose I will support you though and though.”
KNOCK, KNOCK
We both jumped out of our seats at the same time, Rob answered the door.
A little man sitting in a wheelchair, he was soaking wet from his legs that were covered by a quilt to his shaggy sandy brown bread.
“Chiron, it’s time?”
The man looked right past Rob and straight at me. “Yes Robert.”
Mom got up and helped Chiron who I had read about in my Greek mythology book in Latin class was part centaur wheeling his wheelchair though our small apartment.
“Hello Chiron, you can turn into your true form.”
“What do you mean?” I asked than I turned to see Chiron in full centaur form, a tall white stallion.
“Oh, my gosh you’re a…”
“Centaur, half man half horse. You have grown quite a bit since I last saw you.” Chiron said.
“It has been thirteen years,” Mom added
“Thirteen, such a wonderful age when you are a half blood; many children of the gods are given some of their parent’s powers, like Robert back when he was thirteen he was the only son of Poseidon and lord Poseidon had given him some control of the sea for his thirteen birthday.” Chiron stared off into space as if remembering a long lost memory. “Tyler, the reason I am here is because a god needs your help.”
“A god needs my help?” I studded. An Olympian god needed my help! I thought about all the names of all of the major gods I had learned about. Zeus, my father maybe, but if it was Zeus than he would of said my father, Hera, heck no. She hates all the children of Zeus that weren’t hers. Poseidon would have asked Rob too not just me. Hades, I shuddered at the name and hoped the god of the underworld didn’t need my help.
“Which god needs my help? Why?” I asked nervous that something would come out of the sky and blast me into a million pieces.
“Hermes, the messenger of the gods; about three months ago his thirteen year old half blood son Harley Aarons went missing. Brooke, Harley’s twin sister and her father have been worried. They have asked you for your help.”
I looked at mom, she smiled.
“Tyler, you may choose to come with me and be a hero but if you like you lead a normal life but now that you know your true identity monsters will smell you and you will be defenseless against them.”
He sounded like he WANTED to come; I looked at mom and Rob who smiled at me again.
“Ty, if you want to go; I’m not stopping you. We’ll support you though the end.” Mom answered.
“Yeah, and I’m the son of the sea god, I might get to join you if they ask.” Rob added.
One side of me wasn’t convinced that I should leave my family to go off and be a Greek hero like Hercules. But another was telling me like crazy to go with Chiron and help Hermes. I sighed and made my decision.
“I want to go and help Hermes.” I said, I looked at Chiron and smiled again. I had made the choice he wanted me to make.
“If you want to save Harley soon we must leave now.”
“Now?” I asked. And Chiron nodded.
“We must start your training as soon as possible, you have to learn a lot and we must be ready by next month that is when the quest starts.”
Mom hugged me and walked outside it was still raining.
“Be safe” she said as Rob put his arm around her. Mom was about to cry and I bet I was too.
“I will. I promise.” I answered and we hugged again.
I hopped on Chiron’s back, zipped up my raincoat and waved goodbye; I didn’t stop waving until my little apartment disappeared in the rain.

Tyler Youngblood (part two)
I slipped out of bed and put on a red shirt and a pair of old blue jeans and ran a brush though my hair. I grabbed my sneakers and ran down the hallway of our apartment; Rob and my mom were sitting at the breakfast table eating and talking, mom had a worried look on her and spoke so quiet that it looked like she was mouthing the words. When I entered the room, they both looked up.
“Good mourning
“Mourning mom, is something wrong?” I asked and mom frowned.
“No, nothing is wrong. Rob and I were just talking.” I looked at Rob; he was looking at the ground at his feet. He looked up and smiled at me.
“It’s nothing you need to worry about, it’s just bills.” She stood up and got me a plate of pancakes.
I looked at the plate than looked at mom; she could tell that it was bugging me.
“Hurry up and eat, the school bus will be here soon.” She said.
Mom’s name is Sherri Youngblood, Her maiden name was Williams and some kids still call me by Williams instead Youngblood to annoy me and I think they deserve a good hit in the kisser, and I’d be the first one to throw a punch. But mom says fighting isn’t the answer.
I scooped up a pancake with my fork and eat it as slow as I could; mom’s pancakes are the best, she’s an amazing cook. After I finished breakfast, I said bye to my mom and Rob and ran outside to my bus stop.
“Hey Williams” a deep voice said behind me and I wished that I wasn’t me for the moment. I turned to see Justin Goons, the biggest, stupidest, meanest 8th grader in Tulsa junior high school, standing behind me, seeing his ugly yellow buck tooth grin, he would be a dentist’s worst nightmare.
“My last name is Youngblood.” I said a bit annoyed.
Justin rubbed his chin, “you look more like a Williams to
“And if I don’t?” Justin pushed me and I fell onto the sidewalk. Justin laughed “What a loser!” he turned to his friends who were laughing too.
I jumped up and attacked Justin from behind; I got on his back and he desperately tired to get me off.
“Get off, pipsqueak!”
Justin’s friend came over finally and grabbed me; I was swinging my legs back and forth.
“Time to teach Williams a lesson.” Justin said cracking his knuckles which wasn’t a pleasant sound.
But before they could do anything, the school bus drove up.
**************
I tired really hard to pay attention the rest of the day but it’s hard when you almost get in a fight after every class period. Then after third period I got in a big fight with Justin’s friend, Jack. I was walking to class when Jack stomped over to me with the dirtiest look I had ever gotten; he grabbed my shoulder and pushed me into my locker, my head banged against the locker. I jumped up and ran towards Jack, who was laughing like a retard. I knocked the wind out of him; Jack grabbed my hair, he turned me on my stomach and pulled my head up.
“Aaaa!” I screamed and Jack laughed. I was causing a scene because soon a coward of seventh and eighth graders and a couple of sixth graders were around Jack laughing along with him.
I lied there as still I could be, I kept thinking of a lightning bolt coming out the sky and hitting the ground right next to Jack. I kept thinking and the more I thought about, the more strong the lightning bolt became.
Suddenly, the school ceiling cracked open and black storm clouds were forming quickly, we all heard a rumble of thunder and a white lightning bolt shot out of the sky and hit right next to Jack, the ground cracked open. Jack got off me and ran away screaming, another lightning bolt shot out the sky and hit the ground again; the coward panicked and ran away screaming just like Jack.
I was left there, sitting on the ground rubbing my cheek. I looked back at the sky and saw that the storm clouds were going away and I could see the sun shining though.
Something really weird had just happened and somehow I did it.

Tyler Youngblood part one (rewrite)
My bedroom door opened and my stepdad Rob stuck his head in the doorway.
"Hey Tyler, it's time to get up." Rob said.
Rob is six foot with a slight tan, he has redish brownish hair and really blue eyes like a summer's day sky, just like mine. I really liked Rob, he is always go lucky and grinning. He's really fun and i swear there is no one in the world like him.
"I'm up, dad" I've always called Rob, dad because he said i could if i really wanted. Rob doesn't have kids and he treats me like i'm his son.
"Okay, your mom has pancakes ready." Rob answered, you couldn't tell that he was southern no matter how hard you tired; Rob lived in Virginia his whole life but he never picked up the accsent. But no one in both of our families did, mom had moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma right before i was born from California and i was born in Tulsa and if you ask me i don't have a single trace of Oklahoma.
That's as far as i got! I will write later, tell me what you think!
